Mission Statement

The Secret Gardens Tour®
Mission Statement

The purpose of The Secret Gardens Tour® is to raise awareness of acquired brain injury (ABI) and to provide educational and charitable support for ABI survivors and their families. Additionally, we hope to support research for acquired brain injury recovery and rehabilitation.

Our usage of funds will go towards:

  1. Local Resource Guide to Brain Injury in the New Orleans metro area

    1. Costs associated with preparing, maintaining, and distributing the Local Resource Guide

  2. The consideration of applications towards programs which meet the criteria of our mission statement. The board of directors will consider applications based upon the program’s:

    1. Qualifications
    2. Benefits
    3. Percentage of administrative to benefits costs
    4. Availability of funds

Brain Injury Recovery

In the United States, 5.3 million people are living with a TBI (traumatic brain injury) disability and over 5 million more Americans have acquired a brain injury through stroke or other causes.

In Louisiana, 90 out of every 100,000 residents have some form of a brain injury.

1,000 out of every 100,000 metro Orleans area residents acquire brain injuries.

Funds raised from the event will go to local brain injury education and recovery programs.

Brain Injury Conference

The 3rd Annual BIALA Conference is March 25 and 26, 2010 in Covington, Louisiana at the Greater Covington Center.
